Preamble HESO, Mission and Vision
In response to the growing intersection between environmental degradation and public health challenges in Tanzania, the Health and Environment Solutions Organization (HESO) was established as a non-profit, non-governmental initiative dedicated to advancing sustainable and community-centered solutions. Recognizing the critical threats posed by climate change, pollution, disease outbreaks, and resource scarcity, HESO seeks to improve the health and environmental conditions of Tanzanian communities through an integrated approach. With a clear vision, mission, and set of objectives, the organization is driven by values of equity, sustainability, and empowerment to promote systemic change and build resilience for present and future generations.
Preamble HESO
Recognizing the vital connection between public health and a sustainable environment, and awareness of the unique environmental and health challenges that face the United Republic of Tanzania — including the impacts of climate change, pollution, deforestation, water scarcity, malnutrition to under five and the spread of preventable diseases — we, the members of the Health and Environment Solutions Organization (HESO), commit ourselves to promote integrated, locally driven solutions for the health and environmental well-being of all Tanzanians.
More Preamble HESO
Guided by the values of equity, sustainability, and community empowerment, we seek to work in partnership with government institutions, local communities, academic bodies, and international stakeholders to advance public awareness, scientific research, and practical initiatives that protect Tanzania’s natural heritage and improve the health of its people. Through advocacy, education, and evidence-based action, we aim to foster a healthy population and a more resilient environment for current and future generations.
Our Vision
A healthy, sustainable, and environmentally resilient Tanzania where all people thrive in harmony with nature. This vision envisions a nation where the health and well-being of every individual are nurtured within a balanced and thriving natural environment. It imagines communities empowered to protect and sustainably manage their natural resources while adapting to environmental changes.
Our Mission
To promote the health and environmental well-being of Tanzanian communities through innovative, evidence-based solutions, education, policy advocacy, and sustainable development initiatives. HESO is committed to empower communities, strengthen public health systems, and protecting ecosystems to ensure a better-quality life for current and future generations.
